Terms of Service
Last Updated: June 26, 2025
1. Introduction
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of SpeakSynth (the "Service"), a text-to-speech API platform operated by Atul ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing our website at speaksynth.onrender.com or using our API, you agree to these Terms in full.
Please read these Terms carefully before using our Service. If you disagree with any part of these Terms, you must not use our Service.
2. Service Description
SpeakSynth provides an API that converts text into human-like speech using artificial intelligence. The Service is currently in BETA and offered with the following features:
- Text-to-speech conversion with lifelike voice output
- Multiple audio format options (WAV, OPUS)
- API access for integration into your applications
As a BETA service, SpeakSynth may undergo changes, improvements, or limitations without prior notice.
3. API Usage and Limitations
SpeakSynth offers free access to our API with the following limitations:
- Daily limit of 15 API requests per user
- Maximum text length per request: 1,000 characters
- Multiple voice options available (Sabrina, Paul, Morgan)
- Two audio format options (WAV, OPUS)
- Rate limiting may apply during high-traffic periods
These limits are enforced using a combination of your API key and browser fingerprinting to identify your requests. Usage limits reset at midnight UTC each day.
4. User Registration and API Keys
To use the SpeakSynth API, you must generate an API key by providing your email address. Our system creates a unique identifier based on your email address and browser characteristics to help you recover your API key in the future.
You are responsible for:
- Keeping your API key secure
- All activities that occur using your API key
- Preventing unauthorized access to your API key
We may suspend or terminate API access if we detect abuse, excessive usage, or violation of these Terms.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use SpeakSynth for any purpose that:
- Violates any applicable laws or regulations
- Infringes on intellectual property rights of others
- Creates content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable
- Attempts to bypass usage limitations or manipulate our systems
- Distributes malware, viruses, or other malicious code
We reserve the right to monitor API usage and terminate access for users who violate these acceptable use policies.
6. Intellectual Property
SpeakSynth's website design, logos, text, graphics, and service names are our intellectual property. Nothing in these Terms gives you a right to use any of our intellectual property for any purpose without our prior written permission.
You retain all rights to your content processed through our Service. However, you grant us permission to process your text inputs to generate speech outputs and improve our Service.
7. Service Availability and Support
While we strive to provide uninterrupted service, SpeakSynth is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind.
We do not guarantee that:
- The Service will be available at all times
- The Service will be error-free or uninterrupted
- Any defects will be corrected
We may conduct maintenance that could affect Service availability. We will attempt to provide reasonable notice of scheduled maintenance when possible.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SpeakSynth shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of or inability to use the Service.
Given the nature of the BETA service, we specifically disclaim liability for:
- Service interruptions or downtime
- Data loss or corruption
- Any business losses or damages
9. Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time by posting the updated Terms on our website. Your continued use of our Service after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
For significant changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you, such as by sending an email to the address associated with your account or displaying a prominent notice on our website.
