Privacy Policy

Last Updated: June 26, 2025

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how SpeakSynth ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and safeguards your information when you use our text-to-speech API service. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data.

By using our Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understand this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect and process the following types of information:

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Email Address: Collected when you register for an API key
  • Text Input: The text content you submit for conversion to speech

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Browser Fingerprint: A unique identifier created from browser characteristics (such as browser type, operating system, screen resolution, installed fonts, and canvas rendering)
  • API Usage Data: Data about your use of our API, including request timestamps, frequency, and volume
  • Log Data: Standard information sent by your browser, including IP address, browser type and version, pages visited, time and date of visits

About Our Browser Fingerprinting

We use browser fingerprinting technology to create a consistent identifier for your browser. This helps us link your API key to your specific browser so you can access your API key in future sessions without having to remember it. This method is used in place of traditional IP tracking because it provides more consistent identification even when your IP address changes due to ISP reassignments, VPN usage, or network switching.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information for the following purposes:

  • To create and manage your API key
  • To process your text-to-speech requests
  • To enforce daily usage limits and prevent abuse of our service
  • To identify returning users and link them to their existing API keys
  • To monitor and analyze usage patterns to improve our service
  • To detect and prevent fraudulent or unauthorized API usage
  • To communicate important service updates

4. How We Store Your Information

Your information is stored securely in our database with the following measures:

  • Email addresses are stored in a standard format
  • Browser fingerprints are securely hashed
  • API usage data is linked to your unique API key

We retain your information for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide you with our services. If you wish to delete your account and data, please contact us at support@speaksynth.com.

5. Your Text Content

The text you submit for conversion to speech:

  • Is processed in real-time to generate speech audio
  • Is not permanently stored on our servers after processing
  • May be temporarily cached to improve performance
  • Is not used to train our models without explicit consent

While we do not actively monitor the content you submit, we reserve the right to review content if we suspect a violation of our Terms of Service.

6. Information Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties except in the following circumstances:

  • With service providers who help us operate our service (such as cloud hosting providers)
  • To comply with legal obligations
  • To protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property
  • In connection with a business transfer, merger, or acquisition

7. Browser Local Storage

We use browser local storage to:

  • Store your API key locally for convenient access
  • Remember your preferences
  • Improve performance by caching certain data

You can clear your browser's local storage through your browser settings, but doing so will require you to re-enter your email to retrieve your API key.

8. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information:

  • Right to access the personal information we hold about you
  • Right to rectification of inaccurate information
  • Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten")
  • Right to restrict processing of your information
  • Right to data portability

To exercise these rights, please contact us at support@speaksynth.com.

9. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including:

  • Secure database storage
  • API key authentication
  • Encryption of sensitive data
  • Regular security assessments

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
